~ Kirk Menard – Private Investigator ~

Kirk Menard is a private investigator in Jennings, LA. He is the president of Menard’s Investigative Services.

Kirk Menard

Apparently, his first involvement with the mysterious Jeff Davis Parish deaths began back in December 2007 when his friend, Jennings police officer Jesse Ewing, passed on confidential inmate interview information to him. Menard ultimately forwarded that information on to the Louisiana Attorney General’s office and the FBI.

Sometime in late 2008, Menard was hired by people close to two of the victims (whom he is unable to identify due to confidentiality agreements) just two days prior to victim #7, Brittney Gary, going missing. His clients did not feel local law enforcement had the manpower required to thoroughly investigate the cases. They also felt that a private investigator might have more luck with reluctant sources who sometimes shy away from assisting or talking with police.

Menard and his team have examined the crime scenes, developed leads as well as a persons of interest list. He has turned over evidence demonstrating patterns in the crimes to the Louisiana State Police. He believes the crimes are the work of a “serial-type” killer and that possibly more than one person is involved. He also believes that drugs played a heavy role in the crimes. Menard has retained a Chicago profiler to assist with the cases.

Menard has also made a few public comments on http://www.topix.com/forum/city/jennings-la.

On October 19, 2008 – Post #3 he posts a comment on a thread where one of the victims’ sister had posted on July 20, 2007 Post #2. http://www.topix.com/forum/city/jennings-la/TP3AHR3961TQE8UNB

We have just opened an investigation independently of any law enforcement investigation. Since we are not law enforcement officials, we have more leeway in questioning and obtaining answers to many unanswered questions. Due to confidentiality, we cannot disclose our clients but we can say that we are receiving alot more information in our first day of this investigation than they have received since the beginning of the law enforcement investigation.

Also on October 19, 2008 – Post #2 he comments that the FBI has been called in but can only do so much with the evidence they’re given (hint hint). Post #3 asks him to clarify the hint hint but Menard never responded. http://www.topix.com/city/jennings-la/2008/09/womans-body-found-near-jeff-davis-canal

On November 12, 2008 Post #1 http://www.topix.com/city/jennings-la/2008/11/police-17-year-old-la-girl-missing-for-a-week he makes this comment:

Police say they don’t suspect foul play. About two weeks ago we’ve began independently investigating these unsolved homicides. Ironically, we were hired on a Monday and the following Sunday, the teen disappeared. We’ve retained a profiler from Chicago that has been a great help to us. We have some leads that we’ve turned over to law enforcement. Today, we will start a bank account at The Bank and begin a reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for these unsolved homicides.
